Favors Makes World Championship Debut

Eric Favors became the fifth Raheny Shamrock athlete to compete in the World Championships in Oregon on Saturday morning. Favors third attempt of 19.76 metres was his best of the evening living Favors finish in 21st place overall. The qualifying mark for the final was 21.20 metres or inside the top 12 throws. Becker Helps Ireland to World Final

Sophie Becker ran a great second leg as Ireland finished second in their 4x400m mixed relay heat to make the World final. Sligo’s Chris O’Donnell led out the team with Becker running a very strong second leg handing over to Donore Harriers Jack Rafferty in fourth place. Charlotte Wingfield Gets Commonwealth Games Call

There was more great news on Tuesday as Charlotte Wingfield received official call-up to the Malta team for the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Wingfield will compete in both the 200 metres and the 4x100m relay with the games taking place in Birmingham later this month.
