Saturday Round-Up

Dermot Gorman was second today in the Clonakilty half marathon. Dermot finished in 1:20:30. Eddie Harrison ran 3:46:49 for the full marathon with Maurice Timmins running 5:47:29. In the Garda XC in Phoenix Park, Damien Martin was the clubs first finisher and first O50 in 22:52. Other finishers were Dave Woods 24:46, Tom Loftus 25:50, Sean Honan 25:51, Vincent Clohisey 28:35, Christy Reilly 31:15, Connor Jennings 34:29, Ray McCormack 40:05….

Men’s Indoor League Team

Congratulations to the men’s team who qualified for the indoor league final which takes place in Athlone thisSaturday Feb 6th. Winter League Round 6

Donal Foley was tonight’s winner in the latest round of the Winter League. In the 3 mile race, Donal finished in 16:17, two seconds ahead of Damien Martin with Dave Byrne back in third in 16:46. Helen Carr was first woman in 19:38, with Deirdre Fitzsimons in second in 21:08 and Jenny Colbert third in 21:23. The league continues in two weeks.

Clohisey and Cullen win Raheny 5 titles

Local favourite Mick Clohisey won the AXA Raheny 5 this afternoon. On a new course and with windy conditions he clocked 24:05. Foyle Valley’s Scott Rankin was second in 24:24 with Ennis Track’s Rory Chesser third in 24:33. Sligo AC’s Mary Cullen again stole the show  to win the women’s race in 26:16 and finish a remarkable 17th overall. Caroline Crowley (Crusaders AC) was second in 27:06 with Deirdre Byrne…
