Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club chairperson Anne Buckley is to retire and will not be seeking re-election to the position at the upcoming AGM.
“I believe after a very fulfilling number of years as chairperson that the time is now right to step aside and allow a new person lead the club” explained Buckley.
Buckley was elected chairperson in 2003 and has served in that role for the past 14 years, an era of unprecedented success to the club.
Previously Buckley served as club Juvenile director a role undertaken in 1994, setting the very cornerstone of the club’s success.
“It’s been a privilege to work with all those athlete’s, officials, coaches and people who helped out over the years” explained Buckley.
“There has been great work done by a number of people over the years and I believe the club is now in a fantastic position to represent the people of Raheny on the national and international stage.”
While a club officer Anne Buckley represented the club at Dublin Athletic Board, BLOE, BLE and Athletics Ireland level.
Secretary Bernard Lynch has also signalled he will not be seeking re-election. Lynch was first elected secretary in 2005.
