Leinster Cross Country Silver Lining

Ian Conroy led the senior men’s team to Leinster championship silver in Adamstown, Dublin on Sunday.

Conroy came home in sixth place, 76 seconds behind race winner Thomas Hayes from Kilkenny City Harriers.

Simon Ryan was second Raheny man home in 10th place with Brian Leahy 11th and Donal Foley 24th to give a total of 51 points, just nine points behind winners Liffey Valley.

Some 41 points clear of bronze medallist Celbridge, Dermot Gorman placed 30th.

Elsewhere Deirdre O’Dwyer posted 28:53 in the Greenhills 5k.

A large number of Raheny Shamrock members took part in the Remembrance Run in the Phoenix Park.

The late Johnny Fennell was remembered by club members who wore a specially designed running shirt for the race.
