McGoldrick’s New Leinster Schools Record

Aoibhinn McGoldrick of Holy Faith Clontarf set a branch new Leinster schools senior 1500 metre steeplechase record on day one of the Leinster Schools track and field championship

McGoldrick was rewarded with for her front running tactics in with a new record of 5:14.09, bettering the old record of 5:18.25 by four seconds.

Meanwhile St. Fintan’s Sutton’s, James Hyland took silver in the intermediate boys 1500m steeplechase in posting 4:48.76.

Meanwhile Sean Barrett of St.Paul’s college, Raheny took bronze in the under 16 mile posting four minutes 43.21 seconds. In the junior girls 800 metres Amy O’Boyle fought off strong opposition to earn bronze in 2:27.43.

The second day of the Leinster School’s track and field championships takes place on Saturday May 19.
