AXA Raheny 5 champion Mick Clohisey will lead the Raheny Shamrock men’s team at this weekend’s European Club Cross Country championship in Albuferia, Portugal.
Clohisey will be joined by national cross country champion Kevin Dooney, Des Kennedy, Michael McMahon and Kevin Moriarty.
It is the third year in a row where the Raheny Shamrock men’s team will represent Ireland in this event.
While Clohisey and Dooney have competed in the previous three competitions, it will be a European debut for Kennedy, McMahon and Moriarty.
Clohisey finished 10th in the 2017 version of the competition and showed promising form in his final half-mile turn of pace to win the 2019 AXA Raheny 5.
Dooney also goes into this championship in very strong form having won the national cross country championship and performed strongly at the European Cross Country championship in December.
More than 40 club members are travelling to Portugal to support the men in action.
Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club wish Waterford A.C, Leevale A.C and Clonliffe Harriers the best of luck in representing Ireland at their respective events in the European Club Cross Country Championship.
