Eric Favors and Colm Bourke set new club shot put and long jump records in the USA over the weekend.
Favors took shot put bronze while competing for South Carolina Gamecock in the East Regional on Friday night. Favors new record of 18.87 metres.
The gold medal went to Denzel Comenentia of Georgia State with a best of 19.56 metres with Tennessee’s Joseph Maxwell second with a best of 19.23 metres.
Favors new record improves on the 18.49 metres set in April.
On Saturday evening Colm Bourke set a new club long jump record of 7.58 metres as he finished sixth at the Sunbelt Conference in Arizona.
Bourke’s jump improves on his own club record of 7.42 metres set in March.
Elsewhere at the Ton Le Gaoithe meet in Waterford, Ireland’s wind assisted sprint meet, Mark Smyth took 200 metre second posting 21.67 seconds (+0.3) just point 02 seconds behind Eanna Madden.
In the 100 metre heats Sean O’Driscoll posted 11:00 in his first heat (+1.4) and 10.78 seconds in the final (+3.1).
