Fogarty Sets New Club Discus Record

Niamh Fogarty smashed a 33-year-old club record as she threw a European Under-23 discus A standard of 51.81 metres.

Fogarty was guesting at the Leinster schools in Santry on Saturday and broke Michelle Mullane record of 45.16 metres by over six and a half metres.

Elsewhere Mick Clohisey finished second in a sprint finish at the Navan 6k posting 17 minutes 38 seconds. Peter Somba edging Clohisey out by two seconds. Maeve Devlin posted 41.15.

Kevin Moriarity set a 5,000 metre personal best at the GV Ryan games in Irishtown stadium, finishing third in 14:41.73. The race was won by Briton John Sanderson in 14:17.31, Joe Wilkinson was second in 14:28.19.
