Mark Smyth bagged a new club record as he bagged a European Under-23 spot as he finished second at the IFAM meet in Belgium.
Smyth posted 21.35 for second place behind Willy Broer Rodrigo of the Netherlands who clocked in 21.27 seconds to win the second heat of the 200 metres in the pre-schedule.
Smyth’s time of 21.35 seconds is a European under-23 B standard.
In the main programme, Kieran Kelly posted 3:47.37 for 1500 metres to finish 12th in his heat.
While Brandon Arrey took second place in the 400 metres in 47.74 seconds behind France’s Gilles Biron who won out in 46.66 seconds in the pre-programme.
Also at IFAM, Sean O’Driscoll won his 100 metre heat in 11.02 seconds. O’Driscoll also posted 22.13 seconds to finish third in his 200 metre heat.
Jamie Sheridan posted 2:01.84 for fifth place in his 800m heat, while Conall O’Toole posted 23.38 seconds in the 200 metres.
While Kim O’Hare jumped a best of 5.34 metres in the long jump. On Sunday Michael Farrelly was part of the Irish junior 4×400 metre relay which posted a European Under-20 standard of 40.70 seconds.
Elsewhere Eric Favors qualified for the NCAA Championship with a new club shot put record with a best of 19.11 metres.
Elsewhere Niall Power posted 4 minutes 48 seconds over 1500m at the Drogheda & district graded on Thursday night.
