Niamh Fogarty took discus silver at the English under-23 championship in Bedford on Saturday proudly wearing the Raheny singlet in England.
Fogarty throwing 50.99 metres. Fogarty was just 1.29 metres off gold won by Divine Oladipo and some four metres clear of bronze.
Elsewhere Mick Clohisey took second place in the Dunshaughlin 10k just one second behind DSD’s Hiko Tanosa. Tanosa winning out in 29 minutes 30 seconds with Clohisey second in 29:31.
Others who ran were Cillian O’Leary in sixth place in 31:04, Wesley O’Brien 0:34:36, Colm Cassidy 34:44, Ian McConkey 36:17, Oran Heron 37:49.
Sean Kelly 39:01, Brian Cotter 39:35, Sean O’Hanlon 40:43, Rose Kidd 42:01 and Jim Keogh 43:02.
The combination of Clohisey, Cillian O’Leary, Wesley O’Brien and Colm Cassidy secured the team title with 97 points well clear of Rathfarnham WSAF with 163 points.
