2021 Virtual AXA Raheny 5 A Success

The 2021 Virtual AXA Raheny 5 took place over the last week and was a massive success with 1,113 competitors, more than triple any previous virtual race!

The men’s race saw joint winners Tadhg Donnelly of Drogheda & District and Star of the Sea’s Andrew Coscoran both posting 24:57.

Third place went to Matthew McMeekin of Sligo A.C in 25:12 with David Troy fourth in 25:25 and Daniel Stone fifth in 25:30.

Leevale’s Michelle Finn posted the fastest female time in 27:32 with Raheny’s Iseult O’Donnell second in 28:15, Ciara Durkan of Skerries took third place in 29:18.

Brid Ni Chonghaile took fourth place in 29:37 with Eimear Ni Dhubhlainn fifth in 30:00.

The men’s team race was won by the Dublin Track Club outfit with a team of Andrew Coscoran, David Troy and Daniel Stone amasing 10 points.

The Raheny Shamrock team of Ciaran McCarthy, Graham O’Dwyer and Rob Kelly took second place with 29 points and the Blackrock side of Brian Lenihan, Igor Pashchenko and Colm Cunningham were third with 53 points.

The amalgamated Dublin Track club team of Michelle Finn, Iseult O’Donnell and Brid Ni Chonghaile won out with seven points.

Second place went to the Raheny Shamrock team of Zoe Quinn, Mary Walsh and Molly Rickard, with third going to the Lusk side of Alex Bell, Dara Harford and Sheila Bourke.

Many thanks to all those who took part in what was the first Virtual AXA Raheny 5 and we hope the last virtual race.
