Brian Fay has been added to the Ireland panel for the 2021 European Indoor Championship in Torun Poland.
Fay replaces Darragh McElhinney who has withdrawn following a positive Covid-19 test on arrival in Poland.
Fay will take part in the 3,000 metres with the three semi-finals getting under way from 10:25am on Saturday morning.
Sophie Becker is in line to become the first Raheny Shamrock Athlete to compete at these championships on Friday when she takes part in heat two of the 400 metres.
Becker has been drawn in lane four and has a personal best of 53.20 ran this season. Lieke Klaver (51.21) of the Netherlands, Anna Ryzhykova (52.38) of Ukraine, Camille Laus (52.79) of Belgium have all posted fastest times this season.
The first two in this heat and the four fastest non-automatic qualifiers from the seven heats advance to the semi-final.
Becker’s race is due off at 10:30am on Friday.
