Raheny Shamrock secured a dominant Leinster Senior cross country title today in Tyrrellspass, Co.Westmeath.

Ian Conroy led the men’s team home, Conroy took sixth place over all just under two minutes behind winner Mark Christie of Mullingar Harriers.

Liam Brady (Tullamore Harriers) and Thomas Hayes (Kilkenny City Harriers made up the podium.

Simon Ryan was next Raheny man home in eighth place followed by Donal Foley 12th and Ciaran McCarthy 14th to give the Shamrock’s 40 points and gold!

Silver medals went to Tullamore Harriers with 53 points while Mullingar Harriers took bronze with 73 points.

Rory O’Sullivan finished a very creditable 24th place and was the team’s non-scoring member.

The Leinster title is added to the Dublin crown which was landed last Sunday. Ian Conroy having been a scoring member of both teams.

Lucy Barrett landed gold in the junior Women’s race holding off Isabel Carron of Skerries A.C.

Karen Crossan finished in 14th place in a competitive senior women’s race just 80 seconds behind outright winner Barbara Cleary of Donore Harriers.
