Dooney bells in for Second

Conor Dooney kept his great form up taking second place in the Jingle Bells 5K this morning leading the club to another team title.

Dooney third scorer in last Sunday’s National senior cross country gold medal winning team having finished 11th, posted 14 minutes 30 seconds for the Phoenix Park 5K.

John Travers of host club Donore Harriers won out in 14:08 on a fast course, which Travers knows like the back of his hand.

Eoin Strut took ninth place in 15 minutes 10 seconds with Brian Fay clocking 15 minutes 29 seconds for 12th place and the junior men’s title.

Donal Foley posted 15:38 with Eoin O’Dwyer second junior athlete home in 15 minutes 42 seconds.

Conor Dooney, Eoin Strut, Brian Fay and Donal Foley combined to take the team title.

Other finishers where Dermot Gorman 15:59, David Kirwin 16:14, Daniel Scully 16:16, Damian Kehoe 16:46, Carl Conroy 16:57, Jody Gilhooly 17:24, Michael Glynn 17:55.

Niall Power 18:06, Helen Carr 19:55, Nicola Mooney 21:25 and Denise Kelleher 28:34.

Ciara Mageean warmed up for the European cross country championship posting 15 minutes 58 seconds for the women’s title.
