Men’s Team reach Indoor League Final

The men’s track and field team reached the final of the indoor league with a dazzling team effort and a new club record.

Matt Cotter took second place in the triple jump with a best of 12 metres 19cm, setting a new club indoor record.

Captain Simon Devenney was second in the 1500 metres behind Ennis Track’s Damien Landers in four minutes 20.86 seconds.

Kevin Byrne was second in the high jump as he cleared 1.80m and collected four points in the 200m clocking 24.36 seconds.

Adam Foley was a late replacement in the 400 metres and collected four points posting 58.81 seconds.

The women’s team showed good improvements after their first round outing. Kim O’Hare collected eight points as she was third in the triple jump with a jump of 10.10, again setting a new club indoor record.

Iseult O’Donnell picked up eight points with her third place finish in the 400m with 59.76.

Sue Scallan was fifth in the 200m posting 25.93 seconds collecting six points in the process. Sue also cleared 1.10m in the high jump.

In the guest events, Fiona Ryan ran 27.94 in the 200m. Bill Oshafi jumped 12.12m in the triple while Niall Power ran 2.17:04 in the 800m.

The league final for the men’s is Saturday 4th February in the National Indoor Arena in Abbotstown.
