Men & Women Team’s Make League Final

The men’s and women’s track and field teams are both set for a trip to Tullamore next month having progressed to the national league final.

Simon Devenney’s side amassed 105 points to finish third in Belfast and totalling up to 202 points from round one to finish sixth overall after the first two rounds.

While Kay Bannon’s team scored 83 points in Belfast totalling up to 182 points to finish in seventh place overall securing passage to the final.

Kim O’Hare grabbed triple jump victory with a best of 11.18 metres, while there were second place finishes for Lucy Barrett (1500m), Mieke Kiernan (hammer) and Helen Buckley (Shot putt).

While Aisling Drumgoole landed two important third place finishes for six points each in the 100 and 200 metres, while the 4×400 also finished third.

The men’s team saw victories for Freddy Sittuk (Steeplechase and 5,000m) and Kieran Kelly (800m).

There were second place finishes for Kieran Kelly (400m), Mark Smyth (100m), Conor Bermingham (Pole Vault) and Colm Burke (Long Jump).

There were solid third place finishes for Feidhlim Kelly (1500m), Kevin Byrne (High Jump) Matt Cotter (Triple Jump) and the 4x400m team.

The National Track & Field League Final takes place on August 20th in Tullamore.
