2020 Joe Noonan Cup On Sunday September 26

One of the Clubs oldest Classic Road Races, the Joe Noonan road race is being relaunched on Sunday September 26th.

Ran in memory of the late Joe Noonan, a former club President and father of our current president PJ Noonan, the race was first contested in 1978, the first winner being the late Pat Hooper.

The race has long held a date of the last Sunday before Christmas but Covid-19 but paid to the 2020 event, hence the deferred date.

A serious change in road layout on the seafront section of the old course has inspired the decision to settle on a new course over five mile.

Distance

The new Joe Noonan Five mile will start close to Manor House School at the junction of Watermill Road and Watermill Drive, run down to the seafront, turn left onto the seafront and then on to Blackbanks then continuing up the Howth Road.

It the turns left just after Raheny Library, heads down Main Street and back on to Watermill Road. Then basically repeats the 1st loop and will finish at the taxi rank.

The course has been wheel measured and is deemed to be a fast one.

The race is limited to Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club members. Runners of all standards are encouraged to support the event. Entries will be taken at the start area outside Manor House.

The race start time is 10am.
