Des O’Neill landed national U20 silver and broke the club’s 400m indoor record on a big day in Athlone indoor arena.
O’Neill started the day by winning his heat in 49.54 seconds. O’Neill went onto clock 47.65 seconds for silver in the 400m final just .02 seconds gold.
A great performance by Des who broke Brandon Arrey’s five year-old club record of 47.83 seconds.
The race was won Sean Doggett of Athenry in 47.63.
Elsewhere Hiro Takei clocked 23.77 seconds in the U23 200m heats. In the U23 60m heats Timo Haeusel posted 7.47 seconds.
