{"id":11514,"date":"2025-11-23T22:40:47","date_gmt":"2025-11-23T22:40:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rahenyshamrock.ie\/?p=11514"},"modified":"2025-11-24T00:46:31","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T00:46:31","slug":"fay-victorious-in-derry-mud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rahenyshamrock.ie\/?p=11514","title":{"rendered":"Fay Victorious In Derry Mud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brian Fay took the national senior cross country title in some style in traditional cross country weather today.<\/p>\n<p>The national 5,000m record holder exploded for home at the half-way mark in a group including Nick Griggs (CDNR) Cormac Dalton (Mullingar Harriers), Jack O&#8217;Leary (Mullingar Harriers), Darragh McElhinney (UCD) and 2025 Raheny 5 champion Efrem Gidey.<\/p>\n<p>Fay had too much for youngster Nick Griggs in a sprint for the line and home by just two seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Cormac Dalton took bronze, followed by Jack O&#8217;Leary, Darragh McElhinney and Gidey.<\/p>\n<p>Fay becomes the fourth Raheny Shamrock man to win the National senior cross country championship joining Vinney Mulvey (2006), Mick Clohisey (2015*) and Kevin Dooney (2018).<\/p>\n<p>Fay adds national senior gold to the U23 gold he took in 2018.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-media-max-width=\"560\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\ud83d\udde3\ufe0f &#8220;It\u2019s brilliant\u2026I\u2019m happy to come here and get the win.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hear from a delighted Brian Fay (Raheny Shamrock AC) after he took the senior men&#8217;s title at the <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8kNu8qkSSg\">https:\/\/t.co\/8kNu8qkSSg<\/a> National Cross Country Championships in Derry! \ud83d\ude4c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/IrishAthletics?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#IrishAthletics<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/svTVJ6tkff\">pic.twitter.com\/svTVJ6tkff<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Athletics Ireland (@irishathletics) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/irishathletics\/status\/1992625916141297921?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 23, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Shane Spring was next Raheny man home in 34<sup>th<\/sup> place with Adam Condon 83<sup>rd<\/sup> and Dylan O\u2019Brien 114 seeing the Raheny team finish in eighth place.<\/p>\n<p>Also racing were Rob Frewen, Dara McRiocaird and Giovanni Salvatore.<\/p>\n<p>There was more good news as Conrad Latham took national U18 silver and led the team home to silver.<\/p>\n<p>Latham was joined by Charlie Gunawardhana, Ely Nolan and Mark O&#8217;Callaghan to give the team 71 points and silver behind Donore Harriers.<\/p>\n<p>The U18 race doubles with the U20 race. A very young Raheny team taking a very impressive fourth place with 170 points behind, Donore (89pts), Clonliffe (145pts) and Lagan Valley (147pts).<\/p>\n<p>Some big things lie ahead for these young
