Ailish Murtgh claimed the Dublin junior cross country championship, some 10 seconds clear of DSD\u2019s Emma Ryan.<\/span><\/p>\n

A very solid win by Murtagh, with Aoibhinn McGoldrick fourth, some 16 seconds of a medal in Santry. Ruth Colbert took ninth place.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately Murtagh, McGoldrick and Colbert\u00a0were the club\u2019s only two competitors in the junior women\u2019s race where just 11 athlete\u2019s finished the course.<\/span><\/p>\n

Clonliffe Harriers collected the team prize, surprisingly they were the only club who managed to field a team, actually comprising half the field.<\/span><\/p>\n

Overall it was a disappointing day in Santry, the senior men\u2019s team, were severally weakened as the race was too close to the Dublin marathon for Mick Clohisey, Mark Kirwan and Cillian O\u2019Leary.<\/span><\/p>\n

While Brian Fay and Kevin Dooney were called abroad for international action.<\/span><\/p>\n

The men\u2019s team finished in fourth place overall led home by Michael McMahon in ninth place with Des Kennedy 17th<\/span><\/sup>, Robert Frewen 28th<\/span><\/sup>, Rory O\u2019Sullivan 35th<\/span><\/sup>, Davey Duane 36th<\/span><\/sup> and Donal Foley 38th<\/span><\/sup>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The women\u2019s team finished fourth overall Karen Crossan 12th<\/span><\/sup>, Orla Manley 14th<\/span><\/sup>, Blaithin Sheil 15th<\/span><\/sup> an Lucy Barrett 16th<\/span><\/sup>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aine Crimin took 25th<\/span><\/sup> place with Niamh Corry 27th<\/span><\/sup>. In the junior men\u2019s race Andrew Hyland took eighth place with Aaron Tansey 25th<\/span><\/sup>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Editor Comment:<\/strong> What an alarming lack of numbers took part in the Dublin Championships.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jnr Women 10, Jnr men 26, snr women 29, Snr men 52.
