The men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams began their Irish Life Health National League campaigns with the men in position third and women ninth.<\/span><\/p>\n

The top eight make the final, both teams campaigns got underway in the Mary Peter\u2019s track in Belfast the men\u2019s team taking finishing third with 105 points.<\/span><\/p>\n

There were wins for Simon Devanney in the 3K Walk, Brandon Arrey in the 400 metres in 48:16 seconds, Mark Smyth in the 200 metres in 21:58 seconds and Cillian Kirwan in 1:51.44 for 800m win.<\/span><\/p>\n

There were second place finishes for Andrew Hyland in the 1500 metres, Sean O\u2019Driscoll in the 100m, Conor Birmingham in the pole vault and Daniel Beveridge in the discus. <\/span><\/p>\n

Matthew Cotter took third in the triple jump in 12.17 metres<\/span><\/p>\n

The 4×100 metre team took third place Donal Foley in the steeplechase. While there was fourth place for the men\u2019s 4×400 team.<\/span><\/p>\n

Those who competed where Dylan O\u2019Brien 5,000, Matthew Cotter in the shot put, Jamie Sheridan in the high jump, Donal Foley Javelin and Liam Sheehan weight for distance.<\/span><\/p>\n

The tally of 105 points leaves the men\u2019s team see\u2019s the men sit in joint third position with Kildare County. Clonliffe Harriers 128 and Crusaders 111 top the table. The top eight teams progress to the final.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Women\u2019s team sit in ninth place overall having collected 88 points. Galway County lead the table on 110 points.<\/span><\/p>\n

There were wins for Aisling Drumgoole in the 400 meters in 58.11 seconds. Aoibhinn McGoldrick won the 800 meters in 2:18.09. Kim O\u2019Hare in the triple jump with a best of 11.45m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Niamh Fogarty won the discus with a best of 49.63m.<\/span><\/p>\n

There was second place finishes for Iseult O\u2019Donnell in the 3,000m 10:28.06 and Laura Fallon Pole Vault with a best of 2.40m and Kim O\u2019Hare Long Jump with 5.15 metres.<\/span><\/p>\n

Others who competed were Lucy Barrett in the 1500 metres, Hannah Byrne in the 200 and 100m Hannah Byrne.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kay Bannon in the hammer, Laura Fallon in the shot put and Valerie Tsukonva in the Javelin. The 4×400 metre relay team were fourth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Editor Comments<\/strong>: Round one of the national league took place on Sunday May 19th<\/span><\/sup>, yet the results were only published by Athletics Ireland on their website at mid-day Wednesday May 22nd<\/span><\/sup>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Three hours later Athletics Ireland posted a tweet looking for feedback from people who had competed in the National League.<\/span><\/p>\n
