{"id":3746,"date":"2019-11-24T22:41:35","date_gmt":"2019-11-24T22:41:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rahenyshamrock.ie\/?p=3746"},"modified":"2019-11-24T22:43:39","modified_gmt":"2019-11-24T22:43:39","slug":"fays-silver-cross-country-lining","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rahenyshamrock.ie\/?p=3746","title":{"rendered":"Fay&#8217;s Silver Cross Country Lining"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Brian Fay encased a silver lining around Abbotstown as he took second place in the National senior cross country championship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">On real cross country course Fay excelled in the second half to finish well clear of pre-race favourite Sean Tobin and take silver behind a brilliant cross country running performance from Tullamore Harriers Liam Brady.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Fay is still under-23 and his second place secured the U-23 gold medal and poses a couple of questions to the selectors on whether to include Fay in the senior or U-23 for next month\u2019s European cross country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Fay\u2019s silver medal led the team home to bronze, who were without Conor Dooney while defending champion Kevin Dooney took the start line however had missed a very chunck of his pre-season training.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">The ever reliant Mick Clohisey came home in 10<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> place with Cillian Kirwan finishing 42<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">nd<\/span><\/sup> and Daire Bermingham 71<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">st<\/span><\/sup> for a total of 125 points. Clonliffe won out with 52, whie DSD took silver with 88 points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Other Raheny athletes who performance in the national senior were Des Kenedy 100<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup>, John Dunne 102<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">nd<\/span><\/sup>, Robert Frewen 103<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">rd<\/span><\/sup>, Ian McConkey 125st, Stephen Butler 126<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> and Graham O\u2019Dwyer 151<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">st<\/span><\/sup>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Iseult O\u2019Donnell was first Raheny woman home in the senior women\u2019s race taking 37<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> place with Niamh Corbett 54<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> and Blaithin Sheil 54<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> and Lucy Barrett 63rd as the women\u2019s team finished sixth with 211 points. Aoibhinn McGoldrick was the non-scoring team member in 65<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Leevale took gold with 120 points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">In the junior men\u2019s race Daniel Stone produced an excellent run to take eighth place. Adam Condon took 38<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> place with Luke Murphy 77<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> and Dara Macriocaird finishing 111<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> as the team took ninth place. Sean Flynn was the team\u2019s non-scoring member in 120<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">In the junior women\u2019s race Triona NicDhonaill finished 47<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">On what feels like a disappointing day, an individual national silver medal and a team bronze is a very good return and there is still more to come in this men\u2019s team.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">The final Cross Country championship of 2010\u2019s means the club landed four national club titles. The Women\u2019s title in 2013 and men\u2019s in 2016\/17\/18. As well as two junior men&#8217;s titles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">While Mick Clohisey (three times) and Kevin Dooney landed the individual men\u2019s title.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">The future remains very bright, one life, one club.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<a class=\"synved-social-button
