The Raheny Shamrock Men\u2019s and women\u2019s team got off to very encouraging starts on day one of the National Indoor League in Abbotstown.<\/span><\/p>\n

The women\u2019s team finished in second place overall on day one with 53 points, 12 behind points behind defending champions Dublin City Harriers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tara Meire won the 60m Hurdles event in 9.24 seconds .05 seconds clear of DCH\u2019s Alison Burke to take 13 points for her team.<\/span><\/p>\n

There was also a 13 point win provided by Kim O\u2019Hare in the long jump with a best of 5.43 meters well clear of DCH\u2019s Catherine McManus best of 5.36m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Valentina Marzarc gained victory in the shot put with a best of 12.79 metres far superior to second placed Ciara Moore of SLOT 10.60m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kim O\u2019Hare took third place and five points in the 60m dash in 8.21 seconds while Aoibhinn McGoldrick finished third in the 800m in 2:18.21 collecting nine points.<\/span><\/p>\n

A very encouraging start from Kay Bannon\u2019s team to finish in second place with the top eight teams to progress to the final.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mick Hynes men\u2019s side also got 2020 off to a good start to finish in fourth place with 33.5 points behind Clonliffe Harriers (50pts), Galway City Harriers (42pts) and Nenagh Olympic (38pts).<\/span><\/p>\n

Cillian Kirwan won the 800 metres gaining a maximum 10 points clocking 1:55.00 nearly four seconds clear of Leevale\u2019s Tommy Connolly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sean O’Driscoll won heat two of 60m dash in 7.05 seconds for 7.5 points.<\/span><\/p>\n

Conor Bermingham\u2019s 3.30 Pole Vault took third place and seven points.<\/span><\/p>\n

Matt Cotter took fifth place in the long jump with a best of 5.93 metres to collect five points<\/span><\/p>\n

Round two of the national indoor league takes place on Sunday January 26th<\/span><\/sup> in Athlone I.T.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the various guest races Dylan Kirwan clocked 53.42 seconds, Conall O\u2019Toole 53.70 and Oisin McCorry 51.96 seconds over 400m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over 60 metres Micheal Farrelly clocked 6.98 seconds, Sean O’Driscoll 6.99 seconds. Micheal Farrelly 7.05 seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n

While in America, Eric Favors threw a shot put best of 18.91 at the Clemson meet. Long jumper Colm Burke jumped 7.04m in Birmingham Alabama.<\/span><\/p>\n
