Cross-country racing continues with some of our master athletes using the ever popular BHAA 4-mile and 2-mile races for sharping there racing strategies writes Dave Gargan.<\/em><\/p>\n

The races took place in the great setting of the phoenix park. This event was organised by the Garda Athletic club under the rules of the business Houses Association (BHAA).<\/p>\n

On a windy morning the Women\u2019s 2-mile race had to take on two laps of the infamous Munich hills.<\/p>\n

The two mile race also incorporated the Lord Mayors 5 Alive challenge which brought large numbers to the event.<\/p>\n

From a club perspective Zoe Quinn ran a solid race to finish in fifth overall position and 1st<\/sup> in her age category in a time of 14:01.<\/p>\n

Next was Helen Carr 15th<\/sup> overall in a time of 15:17. Others that ran in the 2-mile race included Denise Kelleher 27th in a time of 16:19. Ann Marie Gargan 43rd<\/sup> in 17:37, June Comiskey 67th<\/sup> 19:15<\/p>\n

The men\u2019s four-mile race was up next with wind picking up adding to the tough 4-mile course.<\/p>\n

Up front was an exciting race with Ian Conroy in the mix until last lap until Sean Doran showed his strength to take the front and split up the group and taking the outright win.<\/p>\n

Ian had to settle with 4th<\/sup> place overall in a time of 22:30 on this occasion, Next up was Ian McConkey in 11th<\/sup> place in a time of 23:59, Graham Dwyer 19th<\/sup> 24:50, Wesley Grant 26th<\/sup> 25:17, Mark McComish 45th<\/sup> 26:49, Dan Wallace 108th<\/sup> 30:47, Orla Lambe opted for the tougher option of the men\u2019s four mile race and came in 128th<\/sup> 32:18.<\/p>\n

Well done to all that competed, Next BHAA race is in ALSAA sports complex on Saturday 15th<\/sup> of February.<\/p>\n
