Brian Sexton won the 2020 Johnnie Fennell cup with a powerful gun to tape performance on Tuesday night winning in 10:46.<\/p>\n

Sexton had 12 seconds to spare on second placed debutant Marcus O\u2019Sullivan with Ken Nolan third in 11:00.<\/p>\n

The women\u2019s race was won by Aoibhinn McGoldrick in 11:05 ahead of the returning Annette Kealy in 11:10. Ciara Brady of Sportsworld took third place in 11:53.<\/p>\n

This was the third edition of the Johnnie Fennell cup with a large number of club members competing and officiating to remember our great friend John Fennell.<\/p>\n

John was a stalwart of the club as an athlete his highlights included winning national marathon medals and competing at the Deaflympics.<\/p>\n

Johnnie was an active coach in the juvenile section and worked tireless for the club as a volunteer, lending his excellent carpentry skills to many club maintenance tasks.<\/p>\n

Johnnie also competed and then assisted at the Lord Mayor series over many years, when finishing his own race he would be a permanent fixture handing out cups of tea in the pre-covid era when we could meet in the club house.<\/p>\n

A large number of juvenile\u2019s competed in last night\u2019s race, this would have made Johnnie very proud and would without doubt have saw him scream on encouragement.<\/p>\n

The 2020 Lord Mayor of Raheny Two Mile series continues this Tuesday night with the Tommy Lynam Mid-Summer Two Mile.<\/p>\n
