It is with the upmost sadness Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club have learnt of the passing of Brian Corcoran.<\/p>\n

Our dearest friend Brian passed away last night Sunday August 15th<\/sup> at home with his family after an illness.<\/p>\n

Our deepest condolences and support to Brian\u2019s wife Connie, daughter Jenny, sons Barry and Robert.<\/p>\n

Brian was a proud member of Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club and played an unbelievable part in the club as an athlete, coach and administrator.<\/p>\n

Brian was part of the club\u2019s first ever national championship winning side in 1970 with Paddy Fay, Roger Kingston and Alan Brennan when they captured the national 4x400m relay title.<\/p>\n

As an individual Brian was a successful athlete gaining many Dublin, Leinster and national medals.<\/p>\n

Brian would go onto become one of the most respected coaches in the country and was national hurdles coach for a long period of time. Brian coached Raheny athlete\u2019s Ciaran McDunphy and Kieran Kelly to national individual championships. Brian also coached David McNally and Orla Comerford to the Paralympic Games.<\/p>\n

Brian served as club chairman in the late 1980\u2019s. While taking a short break in the 90\u2019s due to work commitments Brian reconvened his love affair with Raheny Shamrock where he proudly supported his daughter Jenny in the green and white singlet.<\/p>\n

Brian returned to senior club commitments as men\u2019s track and field captain through the 2010\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Brian\u2019s family have been heavily involved with Raheny Shamrock, his wife Connie served as treasurer in the 1980\u2019s. Brian\u2019s son\u2019s Barry and Robert were also members. Barry competing in the national track and field league in the 1990\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Jenny is a decorated athlete and competitor.<\/p>\n
