Mark Smyth helped Ireland to European Championship 4x100m relay qualifying standard in Tullamore today.<\/p>\n

The Irish team of Israel Olatunde (UCD), Smyth, Colin Doyle (Leevale) and Joseph Ojeyumi (Tallaght) crossed the line ahead of Australia in 39.27 seconds.<\/p>\n

This time is inside the European Championship qualifying standard. The current Irish national record stands at 39.26 seconds set in September 2000 at Sydney Olympics.<\/p>\n

We now await confirmation of the Irish team selection for the 2022 European championships in Munich.<\/p>\n

At the AI Games, Rebecca O\u2019Rourke posted 1624pts in the U14 girls Pentathlon. Finn Beamish was just 25 points off bronze in the boys U16 Pentathlon with 2026 points.<\/p>\n

In the senior 1500m Lucy Barrett posted 4:46.93 for eighth place. Oisin McCorry clocked 52.27 seconds in their 400m heat.<\/p>\n

At the BMC meet in Stretford on Saturday night, Kieran Kelly took a break from selling books to finish third in the 1500m B race in a season\u2019s best 3:46.55. Juan Ignacio Pena posted a personal best of 3:47.26 to take seventh place.<\/p>\n

Niamh Kearney posted 16:34.74 in her debut over 5,000m on the track.<\/p>\n
