The 2023 AXA Raheny 5 \u2013 39th<\/sup> edition of the race set to take place on Sunday January 29.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The AXA Raheny 5 returns for its 39th<\/sup> edition and looks set to be the most successful ever.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with great excitement we look forward to the 39th<\/sup> AXA Raheny 5 on its traditional date in the last Sunday in January\u201d said AXA Raheny 5 race director Dave Hooper.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have done our upmost to build on the success of the AXA Raheny 5, one of our main aims was freezing the entry fee price as people navigate the cost of living challenge this year\u201d explained Hooper.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are delighted to continue our support of the Raheny Shamrock’s and their annual five mile road race\u201d said AXA CEO Marguerite Brosnan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis popular event is a great example of local community endeavour and continues to go from strength to strength\u201d.<\/p>\n

The AXA Raheny 5 is firmly established as the biggest road race in Ireland and has already attracted a high-quality field with the members of the Irish men\u2019s and women\u2019s European championship teams already entered.<\/p>\n

2022 champion, Efrem Gidey is set to defend his crown having finished eighth in the European Championship last summer. While a brand new women\u2019s champion is expected to be crowned joining a list of European and World medalists such as Catherina McKiernan, Fionnuala McCormack and Mary Cullen.<\/p>\n

While the race will see the best of Ireland\u2019s distance runners, a big crowd of different levels is expected. All finishers will receive the famous AXA Raheny 5 plaque.<\/p>\n

The main race gets underway at 3pm sharp but is now supported by the biggest children\u2019s race card on Irish roads.<\/p>\n

The first of four children\u2019s races get underway at 1.30pm building up to the main event at 3pm.<\/p>\n

For the 21st year in a row, Raheny Shamrock has partnered with Raheny hospice as their official charity partner. In previous years, fundraising has raised approximately \u20ac10,000 per year for the hospice.<\/p>\n
