{"id":7516,"date":"2023-08-20T00:35:36","date_gmt":"2023-08-19T23:35:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rahenyshamrock.ie\/?p=7516"},"modified":"2023-08-20T00:35:36","modified_gmt":"2023-08-19T23:35:36","slug":"becker-helps-ireland-to-sixth-in-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rahenyshamrock.ie\/?p=7516","title":{"rendered":"Becker Helps Ireland to Sixth In The World"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sophie Becker helped Ireland to sixth place in the World Championship 4&#215;400 mixed relay final.<\/p>\n<p>Ireland&#8217;s team of Becker, Jack Raftery, Chris O&#8217;Donnell and Sharlene Mawdsley came an impressive sixth, the third major international final in-a-row the team has made.<\/p>\n<p>Ireland posted 3:14.14 in a dramatic final, with Femke BoI falling yards from the line as USA surged on to take gold.<\/p>\n<p>While BoI got to her feet, she crossed the line without the batton, meaning the Dutch team received a DQ. Great Britain picked up the silver medal crossing the line ahead of BoI.<\/p>\n<p>The Czech Republic came through to take bronze.<\/p>\n<p>Ireland took sixth place in a very impressive performance, particularly having qualified from Saturday morning\u2019s heat in 3:13.90. The heats for that event are set for Saturday August 26<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Eric Favors finished 13th in Group A of the shot put, to be placed 23rd overall. That unfortunately wasn\u2019t enough to make the final.<\/p>\n<p>Favor\u2019s best throw was 19.65 on his third attempt.
