{"id":7852,"date":"2023-12-14T17:01:47","date_gmt":"2023-12-14T17:01:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rahenyshamrock.ie\/?p=7852&#038;preview=true&#038;preview_id=7852"},"modified":"2023-12-14T17:02:14","modified_gmt":"2023-12-14T17:02:14","slug":"2023-juvenile-cross-country-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rahenyshamrock.ie\/?p=7852","title":{"rendered":"2023 Juvenile Cross Country Season"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>The 2023 cross country season for Raheny juveniles commenced in Lusk with the first Dublin cross country league race on September 17th and finished in Navan with the National Juvenile Uneven Ages Championships on December 3rd.<\/p>\r\n<p>Over 100 athletes competed for the club during this period (some did seven races over the space of 11 weekends!!).<\/p>\r\n<h4>Dublin Cross Country Leagues<\/h4>\r\n<p>Dublin cross country league races are held over three different Sundays. Points are awarded to athletes based on their positions in each race and prizes are awarded to the top six athletes at the end of the year. Indeed, consistency is key.<\/p>\r\n<p>We had five top six finishers and another four top 10 finishers.<\/p>\r\n<h5>Top Six Finishers<\/h5>\r\n<p>Ben Synott &#8211; 2nd u10<br \/>Chloe Griffin &#8211; 3rd u16<br \/>Freyja O\u2019Carroll &#8211; 4th u16<br \/>Esther Ntoko &#8211; 4th u16<br \/>Darerca O\u2019Sullivan &#8211; 4th u17<\/p>\r\n<h4>Dublin Juvenile Even Ages Cross Country Championships<\/h4>\r\n<p>The Dublin Juvenile Even Ages Cross Country Championships took place in Abottstown before the Autumn Open. The boys u16 team finished fifth overall led home by Conrad Latham in 38th and the girls u16 team finished 10th led home by Claire O\u2019Leary in 51st, Jamie Whelan finished 37th in the boys u18 race.<\/p>\r\n<h4>Dublin Juvenile Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships<\/h4>\r\n<p>The Dublin Juvenile Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships took place in Santry, hosted by Clonliffe Harriers. We picked up medals in several different age groups and the girls u15, girls u17 and boys u19 teams qualified for the National Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships in Navan.<\/p>\r\n<h5>Individual Medallists<\/h5>\r\n<p>U9 girls &#8211; Evie Clark<br \/>U9 boys &#8211; Cian Wilson, Conor Woods<br \/>U11 girls &#8211; Emma Woods<br \/>U13 girls &#8211; Laoise Kirwan, Aoibheann O\u2019Malley<br \/>U13 boys &#8211; Marc Woods<br \/>U15 girls &#8211; Claire O\u2019Leary, Willow Agnew<br \/>U19 boys &#8211; Jamie Rankin Whelan<\/p>\r\n<h5>Team Qualifiers<\/h5>\r\n<p>U15 Girls &#8211; 3rd team &#8211; Claire, Willow, Sophie Kelly, Sadie Masterson, Clara Woods, Georgina Bruen Liston, Ruby Cox, Cadhla O\u2019Neill<br \/>U17 Girls &#8211; 4th team &#8211; Darerca O\u2019Sullivan, Freyja O\u2019Carroll, Esther Ntoko, Eileen McCarthy, Rachel Costello, Sarah Canavan<br \/>U19 Boys &#8211; 3rd team &#8211; Jamie, Christian Finn, Luiz Melo, Mark Salmon<\/p>\r\n<p>National Juvenile Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships<\/p>\r\n<p>The National Juvenile Even Ages Cross Country Championships took place in Navan. Laoise Kirwan finished 34th overall in the u13 girls race and picked up Dublin county silver and Dublin provincial team bronze. Aoibhean O\u2019Malley also made it inside the top 100 finishing 96th.<\/p>\r\n<p>Willow Agnew finished 36th overall in the u15 girls race leading the club team to 15th . The girls u17 team finished 12th with Freyja O\u2019Carroll first home for the club.
