Sophie Becker brought Ireland home to seventh at the World Relays in Bahamas last night.<\/p>\n

Ireland made two changes to the team which brought the women\u2019s 4x400m team to heat victory. \u00a0Rhasidat Adeleke and Sharlene Mawdsley both stepping off this team. Both Adeleke and Mawdsley took part in the mixed 4x400m relay.<\/p>\n

Into the team came Roisin Harrison and Lauren Cadden. The two changes also saw line-up changes with Becker moving for opening to final leg. Phil Healy was placed on starting orders.<\/p>\n

The Irish performed very strongly taking seventh place in 3:30.95. Becker\u2019s split lap coming in at 52.21 second the fastest of the quartet. A race were the USA took gold, meaning USA won four of the final finals on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

Just 20 minutes earlier the mixed 4x400m relay including Adeleke and Mawdsley proved the selectors right when they took home the bronze medal after a brilliant race.<\/p>\n

While celebrating the performance of the mixed team, it should be noted how strong the depth of the women\u2019s 4x400m team is. The performance means there are at least six athletes available for selection at this level.<\/p>\n

Also importantly, the qualifying round of the 4x400m women\u2019s relay clashes with the women\u2019s 400m final at Paris 2024. Options are needed and options are there.<\/p>\n
