Sophie Becker and Cillian Kirwan set new club records at the Belfast International meet on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Becker won the 400 metres in 51.13 seconds, just six days after steering the Irish relay team to seventh in the World and the Paris Olympics.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m in absolute shock,” the 27-year-old told BBC Sport, having moved to fifth on the all-time Irish 400m list.<\/p>\n

Becker took 0.70 seconds off her previous best set in 2022 and passed the European Championship qualify standard.<\/p>\n

The time was just 0.18 seconds off the Paris Olympic qualifying mark. Becker was 54th<\/sup> in the world ranking list ahead of the Belfast meet. The win and performance should move Becker up the ranking list.<\/p>\n

There are 48 spots available at the Paris 2024 400m. 21 of those place have been taken by athletes with the qualifying standard.<\/p>\n

Cillian Kirwan broke the club 800m record when he posted 1:45.75 in the international grade race. The race was won out right by Callum Dodds in 1:44.79.<\/p>\n

Kirwan\u2019s time bettered his time of 1:46.84 posted at the IMC meet last weekend.<\/p>\n

While Mark Smyth won the 200m A race in 21.17 seconds, well clear of Leevale\u2019s Colin Doyle in 21.44.<\/p>\n

Whereas, Niamh Kearney took third place in the international women\u2019s 1500m posting 4:23.41. English athlete Ava Lloyd won out in 4:19.26.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Isuelt O\u2019Donnell took fourth place in the women\u2019s 800m A race posting 2:08.04. A race won by Claire Mooney in 2:06.38. Lucy Barrett posted 10:07.29 in the 3,000 metres.<\/p>\n
