The AXA Raheny 5 returns for its 41st edition having firmly established itself as one of the most prestigious road races in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with great excitement we look forward to the 40th AXA Raheny 5 on its traditional date in the last Sunday in January\u201d said AXA Raheny 5 race director Dave Hooper.<\/p>\n

\u201cSelling out in record time, was a great achievement, now we are expecting some very fast times to take place in Raheny on race day\u201d.<\/p>\n

Regarded as one if not the premier road races in Ireland, The AXA Raheny 5 will look to set new standards with a number of the Irish Olympic team entered.<\/p>\n

Such is the high quality of entrant, the longstanding 38-year-old men\u2019s course record is expected to come under threat.<\/p>\n

While a brand new women\u2019s champion is expected to be crowned joining a list of European and World medallists such as Catherina McKiernan, Fionnuala McCormack and Mary Cullen.<\/p>\n

The race hopes to play host to some of the best of Ireland\u2019s distance runners along with a range of different levels is including young and old. All finishers will receive the famous AXA Raheny 5 plaque.<\/p>\n

The main race gets underway at 3pm sharp and now supported by one of the biggest children\u2019s race card on Irish roads.<\/p>\n

The first of five children\u2019s races get underway at 1.30pm building up to the main event at 3pm. Entries are still available for the juvenile races.<\/p>\n

For the 23rd year in a row, Raheny Shamrock has partnered with Raheny hospice as their official charity partner.
