Sean Hehir and Fiona Roche claimed the Hamill Estate Agents Battle of Clontarf 10 and Leinster gold medals on a challenging day in St. Anne’s Park.
A big field took to the St. Anne’s course for the 10th running of the Battle of Clontarf, which was first held in 2014.
Sean Hehir won the men’s race after breaking away after the fifth mile to come home in 54 minutes 53 seconds. Jason Reilly of Civil Service took second place in 55:10 with Clonliffe’s Anthony Doran third in 55:27.
Fiona Roche won the women’s race in a very competitive encounter with the top three women in close companion for throughout.
Roche posted 60:02 for gold with Kilcoole’s Niamh Clifford taking silver in 60:27 and Fiona Kehoe of Kilmore third in 61:09.
In the team events, host club Raheny Shamrock did the senior men’s and women’s double. Raheny men were 14 seconds ahead of Donore Harriers with Civil Service taking bronze.
The Raheny women’s had some seven minutes to spare on Crusaders with Tullamore Harriers taking bronze.
