Niamh Kearney set a new club 3,000m steeplechase record when winning the British Milers Club meet in Birmingham on Saturday.
Kearney posted 10 minutes 8.66 seconds for victory well clear of Alexandra Joyce in 10.14.50 and Roisin Treacy in third who posted 10.19.65.
Kearney’s time took a huge eight seconds off her current club record set at the national track and field championships last year.
Elsewhere, Michael Farrelly won the Leinster 100m championship in Tullamore. However, a technical issue means official times are not yet available.
DSD’s Lorcan Murphy took silver with Paul Costello of Limerick track club third. As Costello was a guest, Tallaght’s Joseph Ojewumi took the Leinster bronze medal.
An update on the time is expected during the week.
While, Oisin McCorry claimed the Leinster 400m hurdles title in 57.45 seconds. McCorry was over two seconds clear of Ratoath’s Ben Hughes.
While Siobhan Kearney posted 13.91 seconds in the women’s 100m on her senior championship debut.
