Mark Smyth has been selected as part of the Irish team to compete in the 2017 European under 20 Championships.
Smyth will compete over 200 metres, having ran the qualifying B standard late last year and will also be part of the 4 x 100 metre relay team.
Smyth made his senior international debut last month as part of the 4 x 100 metre relay team in the European Team Championships.
The 200 metres heats are scheduled for Friday July 21 in Grosseto, Italy with the semi-final and heats scheduled for the Saturday.
The 4×100 metre relay heats and final are scheduled for Sunday July 23.
The other members of the 4 x 100 metre relay team are David Murphy (Gowran), Cillin Greene (Galway City Harriers) and Jack Manning (Kilkenny City Harriers).
We also note with some interest that per Athletics Ireland official release they have once again got the name of our club incorrect.
Best wishes to Mark and the Irish team.
