The opening day of the North Leinster Schools track and field championships took place in Santry Stadium with Raheny Shamrock Athlete’s gathering 11 medals. Mick Clohisey won the Sonia O’Sullivan Cobh 10 on Saturday in a convincing 49 minutes 23 seconds. Clohisey was some five minutes and 53 seconds ahead of second placed Colin Merrit. Feidhlim Kelly was just off the podium place at the famous Clonliffe Two Mile on Thursday evening. Kelly clocked nine minutes 51 seconds for sixth place just 29 seconds off Peter Somba who won out in nine minutes 22 seconds.
