Brian Fay has broken the Irish indoor 5,000m record in 13:16.77 at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Opener in Boston. Fay’s time takes over nine seconds off the record set by Barry Keane on December 4th 2021. The new records come within a month of Fay finishing 13thin the NCAA cross country championships. Cillian O’Leary took seventh place at the Waterford half-marathon on Saturday in 71 minutes 48 seconds. A very good turn out by the Shamrock’s saw Barry Lennon clock 81:17, Aileen Cooke 1:40.33, John Freir 1:47.44, Mary Purdue-Smyth 1:49.17, Ann-Marie Gargan 1:55.49 and Declan Smyth 2:06.50.
