Mark Smyth, Brian Fay and Niamh Fogarty have been selected as part of Ireland’s team for the European under-23 championship. The Championships take part in Gavle, Sweden between 11th and 14th July. Brandon Arrey helped Ireland to the quarter-final of the European Games in Minsk as the athletics programme got underway. Niamh Fogarty took discus silver at the English under-23 championship in Bedford on Saturday proudly wearing the Raheny singlet in England. Fogarty throwing 50.99 metres. Fogarty was just 1.29 metres off gold won by Divine Oladipo and some four metres clear of bronze.
