Dunne takes Leinster Masters Gold

John Dunne landed Leinster masters gold leading the club to team gold on another glorious day for the master’s teams.

Dunne won outright over a testing course in Dunboyne just ahead of Rathfarnham’s Shane O’Neil with Ian Conroy a stride or two behind in third place.

The result saw Dunne win the M1 category outright with Conroy collecting silver.

Dunne and Conroy combined with David Kirwan (13th) and Ciaran McCarthy (16th) for a total of 33 points to claim the master’s men’s team title.

Portlaoise took silver some 30 points behind the Shamrock’s with Ferbane taking bronze

The Women’s masters team found the going tougher finishing a very respectable eighth place, led home by Caitriona Costello in 28th place with Jenny Colbert 39th and Nicola Mooney 41st.
