Eoin Strutt posted the fastest 800 metres at the third Dublin Graded Meet of the year in Irishtown Stadium on Wednesday night.
The A 800 metre race was split into two races, due to the amount of competitors with Strutt clocking a swift one minute 55.75 seconds for victory
Daniel Scully took second place behind Strutt in the same race posting one minute 57.24 seconds. Strutt’s time was marginally faster than Cathal Doyle who had won the second A race.
Earlier in the evening Cillian O’Leary continued his comeback, finishing the Dublin Championship 10,000 metres just outside the medals in fourth place clocking 32:44.50. The race was won by Ferrybank’s Andrew Connick in 31:53.00.
In the women’s 400 metre B graded Susie O’Flynn took second place in 60.5 seconds with Aoibhinn McGoldrick third in 61.5 seconds, the race having been won by Metro’s Rebecca Ward in 60.1.
Round out the evening was mocha latte’s 800 metres, Katie O’Dwyer posted 2:37.26 in the women’s C race with Adrienne Atkins 2:36.19 in the B race.
While in the second B race of the evening Niamh Corry clocked two minutes 26.58 seconds.
In the men’s races Niall Power posted two minutes 14.10 in the C race with Donal Foley clocking 2:07.91 in the B race.
The next Dublin Graded Meet, is meet number four on June seventh in Morton Stadium, Santry which includes the Dublin Championship 100, 400 and 1500 metre for men and women.
The field events on the schedule are the High Jump, Pole Vault, Hammer and Shot put. The graded’s are open to all fully paid club members.
Meanwhile an enthusiastic bunch of athletes took part in Tuesday’s Bob Heffernan 5K, Mick Boyle led the crew home in 16:25 with Damien Martin posting 16:47, Martin Kelly posted 20:01 with John Frier home in 20:46.
