Senior Call Up For Smyth

Mark Smyth Winning Leinster Schools

All Ireland schools 100 and 200 metre champion Mark Smyth has received his first senior international call up for the European Team Championships.

Smyth who is on course to be selected for the European Under 20 Championships has been selected as part of Ireland’s 4×100 metre relay team.

Five athletes have been selected with four running in Vassa Finland on June 24th and 25th who are;

Marcus Lawler – St Laurance O’Toole

Eanna Madden – Carrick on Shannon

Christian Robinson – Queens University

Mark Smyth – Raheny Shamrock

Stephen Gaffney – Rathfarnham WSAF

Smyth has had an extremely impressive year breaking the near 30 year old club 100 metre record setting a new record of 10.70 seconds.
