Atkins Makes A Masters Silver Lining

Adrienne Atkins landed silver and bronze at the national master’s track and field championships in Tullamore on Sunday.

Atkins landed silver in the 800 metre M4 category clocking two minutes 36.32 seconds just 10 seconds behind gold medallist Anne Gilshinan of Menapians.

Atkins then struck bronze in the M4 1500 metre posting five minutes 42.01 seconds, the race was won by DSD’s Cathryn Brady in 5:27.19.

There were silver medals on the double as Orla Gormley and Mick Martin both added to their impressive collections

Gormley landed 3,000 M4 silver in 11 minutes 43.28 seconds with Mayo’s Angela O’Connor taking gold in 11 minutes 26.70 seconds.

Mick Martin added national silver to his Leinster title in the M6 400 metres, Martin clocking 73.93 seconds, Peadar McGing of DSD taking gold in 62.25 seconds.

Ciaran O’Coigligh took bronze in the M6 800 metres posting three minutes 5.61 seconds, while Liam Mulready took silver in the M7 race in 2:55.87.

Other performances saw Orla Lambe finish fifth in the M1 100 metres clocking 15.94 seconds and then taking sixth place in the 200 meters in 33.40 seconds.

Fiona Drew posted three minutes 2.02 seconds in the M2 800 metres and six minutes four point eight seconds in the 1500 metres.
