Des Kennedy blasted his way around the Peter Doody 2 Mile road race with a fast victory on a mild at times windy night.
Kennedy posted 10 minutes 22 seconds after a very fast opening lap with Damien Martin taking second place some 19 seconds behind Kennedy.
Eamon Traynor picked up third place in a time of 11 minutes six seconds.
Zoey Quinn continued her winning run in the women’s race in a sprightly 11 minutes 45 seconds finishing the race in eighth place overall.
Jenny Mulry took second place in a sharp finishing 12 minutes 20 seconds with Anne Marie Woods just three seconds behind taking third place.
This was the 14th running of the Peter Doody Two Mile race, Peter a loyal and beloved club member was killed while away in Spain with Drumcondra F.C in 2003.
It was nice to see so many of Peter’s friends including but not limited to Mick Traynor, Mick Martin and Dave Woods, competing and in attendance.
The memorial was unfortunately overshadowed by the sudden death of Johnny Fennell on Sunday.

For the Category prizes, as John had been regular entrant in the Lord Mayor Series this season and won the over 55 category on the majority of occasions, the races organisers decided to retire the Over 55 category for this race which doubles as round eight of the series.
