Strutt and Lynch Lift Gold Team Titles

Eoin Strutt helped DCU to the Intervarsity road relay title on Saturday, DCU convincingly winning out ahead of Queen’s University.

Strutt ran the third leg over three mile in a split of 14:46.00 with DCU eventually having 63 seconds to spare on Queens for gold.

Brian Fay clocked 16:42.00 for three miles as part of the DCU C team which finished fifth.

Niamh Corry was part of the DCU B team which finished fourth in the women’s race while Blathin Sheil and Laura Brennan help the Trinity College B team to 13th place.

Mary Lynch was part of the Irish team which won the over 65 team gold medal at the British & Irish masters cross country championship in Derry.

Lynch was second scorer on the Irish team behind Mayo A.C’s Margaret Glavey along with third scorer was Eileen Kenny of St.Finbarr’s.

In the BHAA Irish Life Cross Country Niall Power posted 24:15, followed by Declan Whooley 26:10, Vincent Clohisey 27:42, Orla Lambe 29:37, Mick Martin 30:44 and Mary Purdue-Smyth 30:50.
