National Indoor League Begins

The men’s and women’s team  got off to a sluggish start in the national indoor track and field league with the men’s team finishing fifth and women’s team seventh after the opening round.

For the men, Conor Bermingham won the pole vault with a best jump of 3.9 metres with Sean O’Driscoll took joint second in the 60 metre dash posting 7.05 seconds.

Jamie Sheridan took seventh place in the 800 metres posting 2.10.64, with Matthew Cotter fifth in the long jump, jumping 6.20 metres.

Liam Sheehan threw 6.75 metres in the shot put to take fifth place, seeing the men’s take fifth place with 19.5 points.

Aoibhinn McGoldrick finished third in the 800 metres posting 2:22.50 with Laura Fallon third in the pole vault with a best jump of 1.90 metre.

Orla Comerford took seventh place in the 60 metre dash in 8.06 seconds with Aisling Carroll seventh in the long jump with a best of 4.32 metres.

The second round of the national indoor league takes place on January 27 in Athlone I.T.

In the guest races on the day, Rian Sheridan posted 7.61 seconds for the 60 metres dash.

In the second series of 60m races Sean O’Driscoll posted 7.07 seconds in heat one with Liam Sheehan posting 7.57 seconds in Heat three.

Niall Power clocked two minutes 15.27 seconds in the men’s 800 metres.

While Susie O’Flynn posted two minutes 22.11 second’s women’s 800 metres with Orla Comerford posting 8.09 seconds in Series two heat two of the 60 metre dash.
