Hi I’m Sinead the Club Children’s Officer.
This role involves working with juvenile coaches to create an environment where all children in our club have a positive and enjoyable experience in a safe and child centered environment (safeguarding role ).
It also involves ensuring the children in the club are protected from abuse while participating with the club and more generally (child protection role).
I initially got involved in the club through my kids and began coaching primary school groups in 2020. Louise our Juvenile Lead also convinced me to get into running myself.
For my day job I’m a psychologist and work exclusively with children. I often work in collaboration with social workers and have experience with child protection processes.
I also have four children at home. They’re all proud Raheny Shamrock athletes but each has different levels of motivation, ability and confidence. So I see first had the importance of the safeguarding aspect of the role.
