Brian Fay was just .46 of a second off breaking the magical four-minute mile barrier at tonight’s Morton Games.
Fay posted 4:00.45 to finish 13th in the Morton Mile, a race won by America’s Sam Prakel in 3:55.80 with 11 athlete’s dipping under four minutes.
Fay’s time bettered Kieran Kelly’s 53 week old record by .25 of a second as the first Raheny man to break the four minute barrier is just millimeters away.
Elsewhere on the night Brandon Array posted 47.86 seconds to finish seventh in the 400 metres.
Conor Dooney clocked 14:13.17 in the 5,000 metres with Mick Clohisey posting 14:42.62.
On the pre-race card, Andrew finished fifth in the junior men’s mile posting Andrew Hyland posted 4:30.36 for fifth place in the junior men’s mile, which was won out by St.Abban’s Cian Kelly in 4:20.05.
In the IMC 800 metres, Iseult O’Donnell posted 2:13.34 and Aoibhinn McGoldrick 2:13.84.
