Brandon Arrey wore the Irish singlet with pride at Berlin 2018, though was unable to help Ireland into the European 4x400m final.
The men’s team of Chris O’Donnell (North Sligo), Arrey, Leon Reid (Menapians) and Thomas Barr (Ferrybank) had to settle for a fifth place finish in their heat in 3:06.55.
Arrey running the second leg in 45.9 seconds, after taking the baton from Chris O’Donnell before handing over to Leon Reid with Ireland eventually finishing fifth.
The competition was red hot as expected with Belgium featuring just one of the Borlee brothers winning out in 3:02.55 followed by Italy and Spain.
Ireland’s fifth place was not enough to secure a fastest losers spot with Germany finishing fifth in a blistering heat one in 3:03.37 the slowest of the fastest losers.

Very well done to Brandon Arrey who becomes the sixth Raheny Shamrock member to compete in the European Championship.
