The Executive Committee has approved a further programme of works to the Clubhouse and environs designed to make the Club more functional, accessible and user friendly for the membership.
The works, both external and internal are as follows
- Externally an additional way of accessing the Clubhouse will be provided by the opening of the Large Black gates to Main St, upgrading of the steps to the Garden/Yard area with new railings.
- A new door access will be created by cutting into the facing wall ( which houses the toilets) allowing entry to the Clubhouse.
- Internally new Mens and Women Dressing rooms will be built to the rear of the Church ( which currently house the weights section of the Gym.
- The Floor area lost to the new Dressing Rooms will be reclaimed by removal of the internal walls to the existing dressing rooms and the existing stairs to the Upper Level will be removed in its entirety.
- In order to comply with Fire and Safety regulations the Upper Level will be taken out of use completely.
- A new Shed to house storage items will be purchased and placed discreetly immediately to the rear of the building close to the Fire Exit Door.
- The area inside the Black Gates will be created to house a Bike rack. No bikes will be allowed internally in the Building.
- Our next door neighbour, Landscape Architect Simone Kennedy has kindly designed a plan to create a completely upgraded Garden and Seating Area in the existing , currently unused yard. This will be designed to become a very pleasant social for both Club members and the wider community.
- The works which commence this Monday 8th June are anticipated to take approximately 4 weeks and will involve the Clubhouse being totally out of use to the Members for at least a 2 week spell between 15th and 29th June.
- Whilst the major part of the works will be done by Construction Company Linham there will be a significant requirement for Voluntary labour in areas such as the Landscaping and Internal and External Painting and Decorating. Anyone willing or able to assist should contact Dick Hooper.
- It is recognised there will be a degree of discomfort to Clubhouse users in the shortterm but we are confident that the completed works will make a significant difference in a positive way.
The executive would like to thank members for their co-operation and patience while we bring the clubhouse up to a standard deserving of our members.
